I couldn't think of anything for the challenge cause I was working on my own novel.

But i wrote a poem. not long. not really a poem. but it's better than not submitting nothing.

Pride

Father, are you proud of me now?

Gone to war among men.

Killed with my bear hands,

The ones I’ve held in yours.

Spilt blood of my enemy.

Broken hearts.

Torn lives apart.

Conquered land.

Taken what's not mine.

Watched the sun set upside down.

Are you proud of me now?

Hello! Now that our creative juices have been recharged (not to mention settling down into academic life again), its time for a new challenge!

The October challenge is a picture challenge! Click the link for the picture, and write about what you see, feel, the inspiration that pops into your head, etc...the interpretation is all up to you! If you think the piece of art is symbolic for something, write about that symbolism. If it makes you feel sick, write about a character getting sick. If you just want to briefly mention it as your characters pass it, feel free. Like I said interpretation is up to you.

Some background info (should you want it): the piece of art is found in Prague, in a movie theater, across from a stone bust of Vaclav Havel.

Warning: Its a little gruesome, so be prepared.

Edit: Okay, LJ isn't being nice, so I'll post the link here: http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=4mi7t09&s=1
Tell me if it doesn't work.

Entries are due October 27th

Happy writing!

Hello! Another challenge has passed, and under the cut are the winners and banners. Thanks to everyone that participated; we got some great stories this week!

Also, don't forget to pimp out misc_fic_chall on fanfiction.net! Its always more fun when there are more people and ideas.

Hello, jazzygirl speaking! While on FanFiction.Net the other day, I realized that some fictions had "...written for speed_rent...." in their summeries. I was thinking that we could pimp misc_fic on FF.net like that. I know that we've had a lot of people (myself included) that have written RENT fics, as well as other fandoms. By posting those, we could attract more people to misc_fic.

I was thinking about a line in the summary ("written for misc_fic_chall on livejournal") and giving a link in the actual story; there is nothing against it in the Terms of Service.

What do you think?

Hello, community members!  Thank you all for putting up with the community "issues" with posting mulitple stories, ect... Currently, jazzygirl_918 and I are working on that.  (Sorry about the lack of username links in this post; I'm not on my usual computer anymore and this one is being picky...).  Thank you to those who posted a story this week for our challenge "Recycled Works," where any member may post a story previously viewed by the public!

The submissions for voting this week are:

lexie_b: "On the Edge of A Fifty Percent Chance"

byatt_lover: "Chapter One"

jazzygirl_918: "Show You How"

goldnote: "A Funeral"

You may vote in this post; this post will, of course, be screened and the moderators will tally the votes and announce the winners ( and possibly banners).  You must vote if you submitted a story for the challenge.  Please vote 1-4, ranked from first place to fourth.  Voting will close SEPTEMBER 22nd, one week from tonight!  Please get your votes in!

Thanks everyone!  Enjoy the works, vote, and stay tuned!

Title: Chapter One (no real title to date)
Summary: It's just the introduction chapter to a longer piece. There are four main characters, only two get mentioned briefly and the other two take center stage. The story focuses on William and Amy, who both have to let the past go in order to have a future. They both get to know one another, the real people, away from the pre concieved notions of their characters.
Rating: PG

Let me know what you think of it as a beginning chapter.
